EcoDem collaborates with leading companies in the sector, for the supply of a service aimed at the recovery of “precious metals”, in particular Vanadium, from the filter cake obtained in one phase of the refining process.
In particular, we are able to provide a patented process that allows to obtain through selective dissolution and an electrolytic process, the recovery of “precious metals” in the form of oxides.
The process to recover mainly vanadium, in the form of pentoxide, from the materials that contain it, in particular from the refinery filter cake, is also available
This is based on three different units:
- the first is the leaching unit in which the soluble amphoteric elements are brought into solution with a dilute sodium hydrate solution. The non-solubilizable elements, such as Nickel and Cobalt, are left in the residue. This material can be disposed or subjected to further treatment depending on its composition.
- the second is the electrochemical purification of the solution, where the metals, are precipitated and the caustic solution is recovered with the use of a permselective membrane.
- the third unit is the precipitation of Vanadium and its conversion into pentoxide according to one of the traditional chemical reactions.
A pilot plant is available for the small-scale verification of the effectiveness of the technology on samples representative of filter cake sludge.
